Weed & Exercise
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you were to exercise under the influence of marijuana? Are there negative repercussions that you fear? Do you know about the positive effects? Here you will find information about what marijuana can do to your body as you engage in exercise. You will hopefully develop an interest in trying it out and seeing for yourself once you are educated by our team of researchers and marijuana connoisseurs.
Benefits
There are so many benefits of marijuana alone. However, when you incorporate it in your workouts, you can take your body to the next level. Your strength, intensity, weight, and recovery will all benefit from working out under the influence of marijuana. Here's how...
Strength
Although the use of marijuana will not increase your strength directly, the ingredient in marijuana called CBD is widely known and used to be a pain relaxer. This is useful because during your workout, you will be able to not feel the strain of your muscle fibers as severe as you would without the effects of marijuana allowing you to safely add more weight to your specific exercise
Intesity / Recovery
Being able to perform at your maximal amount of effort is hard and often takes a toll on your body. With the use of marijuana after a strenuous workout, your muscles will be able to relax during recovery. This works hand in hand with intensity. Soreness is a major component in why 50% of people decide to quit their workout program within six months of starting. They hate how sore they get and can't function the next day. With the use of marijuana, the soreness will be relieved allowing your body to recovery without the pain of being sore. This will mentally prepare you to get ready and get pumped for your next workout.
Weight
There is a huge stigma that the use of marijuana will give you the so called "munchies." In a sense this is true because marijuana will heighten your senses, especially to taste. It gives the perception that food tastes 100x better than usual. This can be used both in a negative sense and a positive sense. If you have self disciple this will be easy for you. Athletes are often on strict diet programs that can be tedious to follow. An example of a meal that an athlete will eat is plain chicken, sweet potato, rice, and broccoli. Eating that meal 3-6 times a day can be horrible, but with a heightened sense of taste it will feel like a 5 star chef made it. Also people who have a hard time gaining weight or underweight will be encouraged to eat more to be able to reach a weight that can be considered healthier according to their proportions.
Athletes
There are many athletes all around the world, some may be professional or some may be amateur. The truth is that many of these athletes have partaken in some use of marijuana whether it be the psychoactive ingredient THC or the pain relief of CBD. Chances are, one of your favorite athletes has done a little every now and then, if not daily. Here's a few well known athletes that have publicly been known to use marijuana.
Athletes at a "high" level
Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps is a world wide name. He is the most decorated olympian at the time. He holds the world record of having 28 olympic gold medals. He has had controversy surrounding him about using marijuana recreationally, but if anything Michael Phelps has proved to the world that using marijuana can help your performance instead of hinder it. A study stated by Harvard Health Publishing proved that the study's authors put their findings in a more tentative light: a lack of adverse effects on lung function from occasional use of marijuana and indications of possible harm to the lungs from heavy use. Everything can be bad without moderation of course.
connor mcgreggor / Nate diaz
These two guys are the biggest names in the UFC. They are the big ticket fights and former champions in their weight classes. These two men are part of the hardest sports in history. The reason I say this is because they put their bodies through hell and back. they are known to use marijuana recreationally to help with recovery after a fight. After taking a huge beating for months training/sparring all the way up to their fight, they are in constant pain somewhere and thy definitely have soreness. The CBD ingredient in marijuana helps relieve this pain and allows them to recover as perviously stated.
